Sunderland Integrated Musculoskeletal Service (Sunderland IMS) is a NHS service that provide specialist and comprehensive assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal conditions to patients of Sunderland.
If you are suffering from hip pain, Sunderland IMS have provided simple hip information, advice and examples of exercises that may be useful to help with your recovery. Please see the hip pain information below to get started today.
Your hip is a strong, ball-and-socket joint connecting the long bone of your thigh to your pelvis. Without its unique design, you wouldn’t be able to twist and bend, cross your legs, or curl up in an easy chair.
A wide range of causes of hip pain exist. The good news is that exercises to improve the mobility and strength of muscles around the joint can ease a person’s pain significantly.
Hip pain can usually be managed by you, at home. Simply reducing or stopping the activity that has caused the pain can make an enormous difference. Painkillers such as paracetamol can also be used to help reduce the symptoms, but you should always consult your GP or pharmacist if you need to take them for a prolonged period
A wide range of diagnoses of hip pain may be made. Click on the relevant condition using the links below, to find out more about dealing with different causes of hip pain.
